Dwright write-up on Nolen:

Walter Nolen (DT, 5*, #2, Cordova, TN) - this kid and his recruitment remind me of Maason Smith, not only because of their position (DT) and lofty rankings but because of the personal approach Orgeron takes in building a relationship with each. Coach 'O' has cultivated a personal relationship with both over the course of several years, while also taking a genuine interest in the kid and his development. Evidence of these relationships can be gleaned from Nolen's own words.

Upon being asked about LSU and Orgeron some 21 months following the initial offer, W. Nolen was quoted as saying, "He has always made me feel like a priority, and he makes me feel important to him."

Lastly, Nolen has two (2) friends and former HS teammates on the LSU roster - Xavier Hill and Jalen Shead. It's way to early to determine who will ultimately receive Walter Nolen's signature, but I love where LSU stands with him and there's little doubt in my mind that we have a fighter's chance here.

OP... you have typo/auto-correct error on thread title and link in post. His name is Nolen.

This will be Andre Carter's first big test on the recruiting trail for sure. O has laid the groundwork for years now, we get to sell early playing time with Farrell and Logan leaving after this season, we hired Austin Thomas who has got to be a big help with a kid from Memphis area, we have 2 former teammates of his on our team...Carter has to be the one to close.

Obviously not saying we get him yet, but I think we have a very legit chance.

All I can think about is at least 2-3 years of maason, Nolen, shemar Stewart and saivion Jones. You’d also have BJ for one more year (with the possibility of Enai White)

Carter would definitely put his name on the coaching map if he helped close the deal on Nolen and Shemar Stewart

I feel like Nolen could be more of a reality than Stewart, but I know we feel good about both early on - which is part of the problem is we seem to do a good job early on but have a really hard time closing on national (out of state) prospects.

Isn’t that Austin Thomas’s neck of the woods? Doesn’t he help pull guys from Tennessee?

Yes which is why I mentioned him in my blurb, hiring him back is good timing with us recruiting a Memphis area kid. Although I think he was instrumental in us getting Jacoby Stevens and Jacob Phillips from central Tennessee originally. He has weight in the TN area.
