The only reason we pulled Wingo is because we’d just hired his highschool headcoach a couple weeks earlier. Like I said, it isn’t sustainable.

McKinley needs to come in and be himself and earn his name in Louisiana. Ever heard of Glynn Dorsey, Marcus Spears, Benny Logan, Kyle Williams? The list is thick with Louisiana names.

Like I said, it isn’t sustainable.
It is a much easier projection after two years of college ball and development than trying to guess how a HS player will adapt.

Yeah, you're definitely wrong on it being sustainable. If anything, there was some good DTs in the portal. They didn't target LSU because they had 2 All-Americans in front of them. Worst case if it was a big need for LSU they tamper and get some big guys in the portal to come over.
That's the game now and until rules change to manage it the portal is more important than HS recruiting due to the risk of losing every player immediately before they even get to campus. HS recruiting is your depth, portal is your instant impact players because it's an easier evaluation on their impact level in the NCAA already. LSU will still identify instant impact guys coming out of HS and snag them like Perkins but the portal is by far more important right now to instant success.
