Nothing weird about it. LSU fans have seen 5 star this & 4 star that come to LSU and sit out for two years (Stingley), leave during the season (Gilbert, Marshall), transfer because they didn’t want to compete (Finley), leave as a malcontent (Ricks), leave for a rival (Johnson), and be ineligible
due to grades (several players). Yes, at this point loyalty and desire to be at LSU matters.
The rotten culture at LSU was from the Strength & Conditioning, Coaches, Support Staff, down through the entire Football Program to the Players. It had to be totally ripped out and rebuilt. You are damn right LSU fans appreciate loyalty.

The starting QB for UGA who just defeated Alabama in the title game is a guy named Stetson Bennett IV. He loved UGA and walked on. Not the most talented guy. Won't sniff the NFL in my opinion. But his team rallied around him to a beat a far more mercenary Bama squad. Cohesion and leadership matters in business, in football, in everything.

and just about everyone else on the field for both teams were high 4 and 5 star recruits. Dont you think it says something that both teams in the NC game are generally at the top of recruit rankings?

Sure it does. And I generally agree with your point. All I'm saying is that's only part of the equation. Hell, I think it's even the biggest part. But it really does take something beyond just talent to create a championship team.

You know what the last 50 National Champions had my friend? A roster with PLAYERS ON IT. LSU ended the damn year with THIRTY-NINE players. Who the fuk is trying to win a National Title next year? LSU needs players who will be on the team and want to be here. Kelly is doing exactly what he needs to do to be competitive next year.
Some of you don’t seem to understand how bad Orgeron left the LSU roster but you would be the first to say how great Austin Thomas was or how Tommy Moffit was the greatest or that Corey Raymond was the best DB coach in the country when roster depletion, players not playing, and results on the field say the opposite. I live in reality.

Why anyone subscribes to 247, Rivals, or whoever and gives credibility to some guy whose opinion is based on sitting around in his underwear watching highlight videos is nuts.
Some guy juggling his “ratings” based on who is sending him money (and that is happening) is beyond worthless.
There are literally thousands of players nationwide and these services don’t go see 5% of them play. How many of these recruiting services actually went to see Danny Lewis in New Iberia, Louisiana play a single game? Even if they did Lewis is rated as a 3 star TE by 247 but his 3 Finalists are LSU, Alabama, and Florida (11 Nattys in the last 19 years combined). That does not even come close to making sense. These recruiting services are a sham.
