I understand BK and the team are playing a lot of catch up for the ‘23 class but it feels like we’re casting an awful wide net. I wonder how deep a connection they’re able to make with all these kids and what kind of haul they’re going to be able to pull in.

I know we have a long way to go in the cycle and hopefully we’ll make up a lot of ground pretty quickly, but I can’t help but look at the job Freeman and the guys at ND are doing in pulling together what looks to be a pretty stellar class, and early in the cycle.

Kelly was quoted as saying LSU was bringing in a lot of the top talent nationally early to see their level of interest. Then would take a better look at the locals in the June camps. They have a plan, and the June camps, as we know, always finds diamonds in the rough and plenty of talent. They are putting in the work and I look for the average top 5 recruiting classes we are used to.

^^^This! Why the OP is worried about Kelly’s recruiting strategy I don’t understand. It’s the best of both worlds. Kelly and his staff have had to recruit nationally for the last 12 years at ND so we know he knows how to do that and he’s also mentioned multiple times that one of the biggest draws to LSU is the regional talent base so why would you think he’s going to ignore local talent?

Glad to hear it explained. The strategy makes a ton of sense.

I think Freeman is going to struggle. He is not ready to be a head coach.

I live in Minden and have been raising a grandson that plays DT for Minden. 6"2" 310lbs, massive shoulders, does 23 reps of 225 and is only 17. He already did a visit back in March. He was asked to attend the lineman camp June 10th. He is currently 43 on Dandy Dons list and holds offers from all three service academies. Hoping he does well. Makhi Reed is his name.

I think *INSERT RANDOM FIRST YEAR HEAD COACH'S NAME* is going to struggle. He is not ready to be a head coach.
