The No. 3-ranked pro-style passer in the country for 2022 in Walker Howard is set to announce his commitment on Friday around 11 a.m. CT.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More has reeled in offers from all over the country from the likes of LSU, Alabama, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Penn State, USC, and many others.

At the All-American Bowl's National Underclassmen Combine in San Antonio two months ago, Howard turned in an impressive showing that landed him on the 247Sports First-Team All-Combine list. He was the lone quarterback to be named to the First-Team list by 247Sports.

Howard's last name is familiar for Louisiana football fans. His father, Jamie Howard, was a quarterback at LSU from 1992-95.

Howard finished his career in Baton Rouge as the third-leading passer in LSU history with 6,158 yards. He finished second in program history with 34 touchdown passes. Howard, a two-sport athlete, also played professional baseball after he was selected 59th overall in the second round by Atlanta.

Now, his son, Walker, is out to create his own legacy.

quote:

Rankings: The initial Top247 rankings for the 2022 class ranked Howard a four-star prospect and No. 62 overall in the country. He is ranked No. 3 among 2022 pro-style quarterback prospects, as well as No. 4 overall in the state of Louisiana for his class.

Evaluation: Athletic genes run deep in the Howard family. His father – Jamie – not only played four seasons under center for LSU but was also drafted in the second round of the MLB draft out of high school by Atlanta.

Jamie was known for having a big arm on the gridiron as well as the mound, and his son shows plenty of arm strength for someone 6-foot-1, hovering around the 185 to 190-pound range. That will only improve as his body matures, giving him the ability to push the ball down the field to the deep quadrants a little more.

Accuracy is something that Walker has shown early in camp settings and he has a smooth, tight release. Fundamentally, he is ahead of the curve with his footwork and his athleticism is often overlooked, clocking a low 4.6 (40) at some camps.

Well I guess I'll go start typing the commitment thread now. I'll probably add your thread into the commitment thread since you have a lot of info. You will get credit too.

I wonder what his current (actual) measurables are. He's listed anywhere from 163-190Lbs and 6-0.5 to 6'2.

He's still got another 2 years of HS so I would guess he'll come to campus at least on the high end of those numbers.

He’ll probably come to campus in the 6’2 190-200 range.

His stature and throwing motion reminds me of Jarrett Lee minus the scared shitless happy feet of Lee. He definitely has some zip on his passes.

Hard to believe we've circled around already to Jamie Howard's son. Does Herb Tyler have any sons coming up in the next few years?

I’ve been refreshing the recruiting board all day today waiting for a commitment update. Now 3 hours past commitment time, I finally realize that it’s not until tomorrow.

I’ll see myself out

Don’t know about Herb Tyler but former TE David Lafleur has a young son who is an absolute freak show (9th grader) and Ben Bordelon has a son who is a 10th grader at E. D. White (OL) who is a stud.
Basketball:
Shaq has a daughter 6’4 frosh
And another son (Jr.) who will be a national recruit. He is a guard.

Yes, he graduated from Newman a few years ago and I think went to Stanford.
