Stay in High school or sign an 8 figure NIL deal? I know what I’d do

Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers has signed a name, image and likeness deal with GT Sports Marketing for $1.4 million, a source told ESPN on Tuesday.

I wonder if he still gets the money?

Texas would be my guess

More likely A&M. He was committed to Texas and then decommited because they hired Sark. No reason he would go there now with him still there.

At some point, the NIL deals won’t mean as much when you keep losing 3-4 games every year.

It won’t really matter

I would imagine the deal will carry over regardless of what college he goes to since he signed it with a marketing team/company.

JMO, but having these types ($$$$$ + Massive Ego) on the roster destroys team chemistry. Sign the high character kids who love LSU. I'd be happy with 3 & 4 stars who are motivated and willing to work. Ofcourse wouldn't pass on the 5 stars either as long as they fit the criteria. Ricks for instance was never all LSU. He'll probably end up at USC if I had to guess. If all they are after is the $$$$$, then hard pass. Any athlete good enough will make their $$$$$ in the NFL.

Of course they all want it. But why go to a second rate program that goes 8-4 every year when you can go to an elite program competing for titles? You’ll start seeing guys everywhere like Ewers get money from one school then bounce to the portal. I would assume it would slow some schools down on handing out loads of cash if guys aren’t staying at their school.

Honestly I’m not sure he ends up at any Texas school. His father and him put oline play heavy into consideration, I know the father reached out last week to gauge interest but I just don’t see him coming to A&M, definitely don’t see UT with them having 8? Scholarship oline for next year and tech is just hoping if they hire his HS coach he’ll be ok going to a bowl game once maybe. If I was LSU/UGA/Bama/Clemson I’d back the truck up kids legit and all 4 would be NC contenders with him for two years. Just my 2 cents

Have you seen our O-Line play? If that's the criteria LSU is definitely not the place to be now.

Y’all had rough games but you have talent and have it coming in. A great line coach has that line performing week in and out in year one for y’all

If you are good enough to get an 8 figure NIL deal out of high school, you have a very real chance of making the NFL, and that should be your sole focus. That’s were the money is. The NIL deals are peanuts compared to NFL money. I’m not saying they shouldn’t take the money, but elite players are getting bad advice if that is what is driving their decisions.
