re: Greyshirts with NIL deals

Posted by MMC on 1/9/22 at 8:54 am to
The only hang up with NIL for a greyshirt would depend on state laws. IDK about Louisiana but in Texas they can’t be in high school anymore in some states they have to be enrolled. The more important part that could get the NCAA up your arse is making sure the kid never received an official in home or visit.
Texas has already been told to shut down two of their slush funds. They freaked out and reacted without thinking after not starting out strong. They may have got themselves in some trouble along with Miami and one other that where blanket paying all players/position groups. How much “A&M” spent is none how much our boosters offered to spend is probably a few mil spread around 10-15 kids. With the very few rules associated with NIL it was very easy for schools with large rich donor bases who are football focused to go all in. That’s what you saw from Bama, A&M. I don’t think Woodward or LSU itself are why y’all didn’t do a lot in the NIL game boosters who would of covered those contracts where paying O’s buyout and Kelly’s new contract and smaller boosters may be a bit turned off on investing into a product with how the last two seasons went and a new unkown coach coming in. LSU has alot of big oil boosters similar to us, I’d imagine you guys are heavy in NIL with Bama and A&M next year without the extra distractions and costs going on.
It’s one year ATM, I’ve heard alot of people suggesting it will be extended another year at least with the complications on rosters caused from super seniors and other players who where around for the Covid season

For someone who understands recruiting rules better than the highly paid staffs at Alabama, Georgia, A&M, and Texas I have to wonder why your posting on here?

32 is what we can bring in. With 3 likely transfers Perkins and Shemar will probably be end of signees with Harris being public now

We have room for 31 or 32 with covid signing rules and MGK is grey shirting and counting towards next year.

Harris has already signed. Just waiting to announce til Saturday. From what I’ve heard I’d be shocked if y’all got Perkins/Harris. I don’t buy the Mathews to A&M hype. He’s been looking for a reason to stay home despite mama and I think LSU has given him more than enough. Us pushing MGK to flip with Harris in the fold shows our staff feels the same IMO

Means we are out of the Anthony Lucas recruitment unless he picks up a new team y’all can pencil him in. Also Jimbo is doing amazing but our NIL game is kind of ridiculous
Y’all had rough games but you have talent and have it coming in. A great line coach has that line performing week in and out in year one for y’all
Honestly I’m not sure he ends up at any Texas school. His father and him put oline play heavy into consideration, I know the father reached out last week to gauge interest but I just don’t see him coming to A&M, definitely don’t see UT with them having 8? Scholarship oline for next year and tech is just hoping if they hire his HS coach he’ll be ok going to a bowl game once maybe. If I was LSU/UGA/Bama/Clemson I’d back the truck up kids legit and all 4 would be NC contenders with him for two years. Just my 2 cents

Born and raised not to far from Jackson and still live close. East Texas has always been more pleasant,I’ve always felt like around here we claim being from east Texas more than Texas. Just a different feel plus most the state looks down on this area so frick em

I do a lot of bass fishing but fishing for monster cats and reds is what I live for. No competition between the two for that outside north east Texas for cats.

As someone who goes fishing every chance they get I’d take the boot over Texas any day.

Someone’s reading to much fat boy looch. Shemar and Nolan are the only two in that group that are all A&M. Mathews and Perkins are waiting to see who LSU hires, Stewart is between A&M and UT leaning horns, Enai is a quite guy and people are just guessing with time running out and having no clue where he’s leaning. It’s possible we land all but pretty unlikely

You said it not me ?? would be the kind of splash hire Woody likes and fits with what I’ve heard your boosters want

One of the most respected offensive minds in football, some of y’all would hate it smarter people will love it. I damn sure don’t like it for having to play y’all, other hint is in my previous post.

Hey Lota I had a really interesting conversation with a buddy of mine from new braunfels regarding y’all’s possible next HC any truth to what he’s saying?
