Dakereon Joyner ATH South Carolina
will start out at QB but is super raw there i think he ends up as a WR or transfers out
Uh... that's kind of an end around to select a second QB, no? I haven't seen any reputable discussion of the plan being to shift him to WR. He's the #9 ranked DT QB, and after a probable redshirt year, he's basically got 1 more year behind Bentley *if* he doesn't decide to bounce early. Yes, he's raw, but it's a little self serving to say that is sufficient to indicate his "path" is at WR...

multiple teams including Clemson were recruiting him as a WR and him being so raw he is an ATH....just watch he will be a WR at SC or will transfer out...i do see packages built around him if he does stay though....either way he projects as a wr in the NFL

Joyner is already at SC practicing at QB....I call BS on this one...kids listed as a QB and should be drafted as one
Posted on 3/8/18 at 6:55 am to GaytorHater703
If other teams were legitimately recruiting him at WR he should be allowed IMO
Posted on 3/8/18 at 7:03 am to VerlanderBEAST
Kids listed as a QB and simple google search shows him practicing with the QBs right now. If he wanted him so bad should have picked him as a QB. If rivals, scout or 247 have a kid listed as such then by all means draft him that way...but personal projections are BS. Hell he even refers to himself as QB for USCe on his twitter.

jembeurt selects MJ Cunningham, ILB Oregon
Mostly playing at QB his JR, he played on the defense as well. Sadly, he only played one game his SR year due to injury, which definitely hurt his rating. He’s now set to play LB at Oregon, and ILB looks like his landing spot, although OLB has been mentioned as well.

Exactly.. see: Sam Taimiani - DT (instead of OG) - lsuhunt55's pick this year for the "spirit of the rule"... or you can be like Verlander
ETA: Alternatively, when I picked up Otis Reese, I called out that UGA has officially recruited him as a Safety (his HS position), even though most of the services rated him as an OLB. I ultimately had jemby slot him as a Safety after I didn't hear any opinion one way or the other from the crew.

But he specifically went to a school that was willing to recruit him as a QB... he may end up at WR, but he's practicing at QB and at least IMO should be drafted as such. As always, I defer to jemby, but it kinda seems like shenanigans, particularly when you just took a QB in the previous round as well...

I don't think we should be bound by the position the school he ended up at wants him to play. If he was legitimately recruited to play WR by other schools it should be allowed.
Someone picked Marquez Ezzard as a DB. He is listed as an ATH but in my research(not super in depth) I couldn't find any schools that recruited him on Defense. To me that is a stretch of the rules (I have been guilty of this in the past). Picking a player who was recruited at other positions is in our purview and there is precedent for this since the beginning of the RMD.

Reda Selects... Gemon Green, CB, Michigan!
Posted on 3/8/18 at 9:22 am to VerlanderBEAST
Ezzard should be fine at DB. He found article stating that he could be moved there due to a loss of multiple players in 2019, not to mention he played it in HS.

I don't think that's the issue in this case. Dakereon specifically narrowed his focus to schools that were willing to commit to giving him a shot at QB... Clemson (who only wanted him at WR/ATH) was essentially eliminated as a result. HIs final 2 schools were NC State and South Carolina.
quote:
The Fort Dorchester High School (North Charleston, S.C.) senior committed to South Carolina over a number of Power 5 quarterback offers, including N.C. State and Virginia Tech. Clemson offered and pushed for a commitment as an athlete, but Joyner is intent on playing quarterback at the next level.
If the kid actually entertained being recruited at the other position, that's something else entirely. I don't think "getting an offer" = "legitimately recruited".
