package deal

What makes you think that he is?

Can you even name a "package deal" that signed with LSU?

Do those package deals ever work for any team?

Congrats to Cole Smith, and best of luck to him. This
was not a package deal.

Family deals often work better for LSU. Two of the three Taylor brothers, Curtis and Brandon, were players. Also, Eddie and Vince Fuller.

Surely other brother combinations as well.

I was told by a coach at another school that he has the physical tools and smarts to be an outstanding center. Take it for what it's worth.

He is a center all the way.He was at one of the Ole Miss camps this past summer when I was there and he looked good.He needs to put on some weight badly and he'll top out about 290 and yes he is a very smart type of player.I hope he turns out better than another kid we had committed from up that way in Jay Kirkland.Kid wanted to sign with LSU but his Ole Miss parents would not allow it.The football talent is really bad in that area.

Very surprised Miss State had not already offered given who his dad is.

Leonard Fournette and Lanard Fournette appeared to be a package deal.

I trust the coaching staff in evaluating players and have no problem with extending Smith an offer. That being said, he doesn't look 6'4, 275lbs standing next to Coach O. Does anyone know about how tall Coach O is?

Kid has some nastiness in him, the way he finishes blocks is brutal.

He's got the footwork (and almost the frame) of a tackle and the nastiness of a guard. I don't know if his arms are long enough to be a legitimate LT prospect.

Kid's a good athlete - he has a couple of nice plays from the DE spot on the reel.

When I saw this I called a friend who's son played with him when Smith was a freshman and he said he will be a player. Probably take a redshirt but is definitely a good get. His dad played for the Dolphins and has schooled him well.
Buddy is a big time OM fan and said the alums in Oxford were really upset that he hadn't had more contact with the Rebels.
So it seem like "O" and company have found a good one.

From his film he has some good technique actually. I really liked what I saw. I think he will be a good one. He needs to bulk up and still keep his quick feet.

FWIW, I can't remember the last time we recruited a lineman that small.

He's the perfect size for a center prospect

Teuhema brothers.
We signed Sione to nab his 5 star brother the next cycle.
I believe Sione is gone now, and Maea hasn't exactly panned out as the "next big thing" but he's certainly been serviceable.

Who is his dad. I live in Tupelo now, 16 miles from Pontotoc. My wife went to State, might have known his dad. I'll call Cole Smith and tell him all about LSU and Baton Rouge, where I was in the 80's.

I have seen him play. He's athletic and Very very nasty. Plays to the echo of the whistle. This is a really really good get.

I think this is another example of O's recruiting methodology and work ethic paying off. My guess is most other schools filtered him out as too small to play tackle and didn't bother to assess whether or not he could play another position.

They have a kid that will be a prospect in for the 2019 class, Austin Morphis. But I don't think he factored in to lsu's decision to offer Smith.

A true freshman all american is "serviceable"

Maea could have been one of the best guards in the country last year if not for his injuries last year and playing out of position
