After the June LSU camp Sonny Shipp thought Shelby Christie performed well enough to get a serious look. With the numbers like they are he has committed to Mississippi State. Clarion Ledger
ETA:
State got a good one. Good luck to him for 11 games a year.

The Bulldogs picked up their fifth wide receiver commitment for the 2013 class tonight, receiving a verbal pledge from Shelby Christy of Geismar, La. The news was first reported by Scout.com.

Am I correct in that this time last year we had no commitments for 2013 (and would not for another 5 months) but currently have 3 commitments for 2014? That just seems spectacular. If the 2013 class is filling up quickly, I cannot imagine how quickly the 2014 class will fill up.

The following link is a good place to try to keep up with Hayden Rettig. Fox Sports West Prepzone
They cover the Mission League well and even broadcast some of their games live on Friday nights.
They show four SoCal games live at 9:00 p.m. Central time on on this site.
The schedule for August & September is out: 2012 Fox Sports West Prepzone Schedule
Catholic (Los Angeles) isn't scheduled for Aug. or Sept. but some of their league games are in there if you want to watch the level of competition.
Games involving Mission League teams that are scheduled:
all games are 9 p.m. Central (You can catch the second half when you get home from your favorite team's game)
9/7 Valencia @ Chaminade
9/7 Crenshaw (Los Angeles) @ Westlake
9/14 Oaks Christian @ Chaminade
9/14 St. Francis @ La Mirada
9/21 Narbonne (Los Angeles) @ Serra
9/28 Chaminade @ Notre Dame
9/28 St. Bonaventure @ Westlake
With this many ML games slated, surely they'll have one or two Catholic games in Oct. & Dec.
LSU is actively recruiting kids from other teams on the Aug. & Sept. schedule including Oaks Christian (2014 OT Reno Rosene, 2014 Athlete Darick Holmes, 2014 CB Malick Cyphers) on 9/07/12 & 9'14/12.

Not impressed with this group at all. Watched Boutte last week against a much smalled defensive lineman and he got eaten up. But that seems to be the OL LSU wants: big fat boys who can't move.

Boutte dominated at all the camps he went to over the summer against high level talent. He has the natural ability but needs some coaching and conditioning work. He could be a good one.

*wonders what school GOOTMAWs son, little brother, cousin, or nephew plays OL for*

11. Hayden Rettig QB 05/22/12 Rivals Scout 247
16. Anthony Jennings QB 06/07/12 Rivals Scout 247
OK guys, we do not get much input here in TX,
are we looking at JJ and JL all over again.
I do not understand... a PRO STYLE QB and a Dual threat QB ?????
Is like... what style do we really want to play?
can some one give the logic..honestly ?

Not JJ/JL. Think less JJ and JL and more along the lines of JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn. And don't be fooled by Jennings being a "dual threat" he's mobile and can move, but isn't a Cam Newton/Tim Tebow/Vince Young dual threat. He's more of an RGIII passer who can run if things break down. Similar along the lines of a Matt Flynn.

We had plenty of commitments this time last year. Don't confuse commitments with signees - they can only sign in February (I'm only suggesting this as a cause of your confusion.)

I'm headed to Loranger tonight. Looking forward to seeing Brazil fo the first time in a win or go home game.

"This time last year" was November, 2011 - and at that time we did not have any commitments for the 2013 class! He was correct. Brazil was the first to commit and that was in late January of 2012. I think YOUR confusion is the recruiting year he is talking about!

I don't know man. Watched some clips on him and didn't get that vibe. I was much more impressed witht the Rettig kid. Agree on the ability to make a play with his legs if he needs to.
