If a storm was just starting a intensification cycle I would agree with you....but the already low pressure combined with the increased convection surrounding th eye will not hinder wind speed increases

ETA: people forget to look at pressure, this thing already has the pressure of a strong cat2

Nobody is saying that. BR will get hammered with sustained TS winds and rain for a long period of time. The same thing Gustav brought.

doubt it happens to be honest. It's coming down like a good strong storm, but that is about it.

too frat has been saying "BR is fricked" for days now... simmer brah. I think we'll have power out and shite but the destruction won't be as bad as gustav overall.

Some 58,918 people are without power in #Louisiana. (up from 10,000 earlier) Roughly 25,000 of those are in Orleans County

Gustav did a great deal of damage and sustained winds barely hit 60 in BR.

And there were people without power for over two weeks. Most had their power back on within 4-7 days, though.
