IMO LSU should just cancel the rest of the season and try again next year

i dont see how they are going to get any home games in this year

Not sure why but maybe that jog southwest that put it over water gave it some strength?

Can someone explain to me the main reason why this thing isn't getting weaker quicker? It always seems like these things lose all of their steam once they hit land, but this thing just seems to be staying the same.

My non-expert opinion is that it's moving slow along the coast, keeping its fuel from the gulf. Normally these things hit land and start moving north and east. And they move much faster offshore onto land.

I was in poli sci not much better. go to law school. all the baby boomers in the profession are about to die. look, I sincerely apologize if you think I downplayed the storm. I guess "fricked" is a relative term and lots of rain, wind, and power outage isn't fricked. In Katrina many of my friends and family had 12 feet of water in their houses and a friend I worked with in the quarter when I was younger fricking died (so I've heard anyway and I have no reason not to believe it) THAT is fricked.

"You've tried to belittle the storm since day 1."

Someone has to balance out the TWC doomsday predictions

It should weaken soon enough.

The past 12 hours or so the dry air has prevented it from moving north but kept it hovering just over the Gulf. This caused it to maintain most of its strength (it has been weakening very slowly in the past 8 hours).

yeah that's what I was thinking too. Watch those games Saturday and ours Sunday or Monday. I just feel like there's absolutely no way LSU doesn't play somewhere at sometime this holiday weekend. There's no where else to put this game on the schedule and they aren't going to just skip it...

i wish we could somehow know when the game will be, because if it's on Monday, I'm tempted to take off Tuesday so i can recover.

It has corrected West. Pretty much worst case scenario for BR.

However it does speak to your ability to senselessly call another poster out over and over because of something he relayed from another source......especially given the fact that at this moment not a soul on this earth knows how bad the effects will be in BR when it is all said and done.

It makes it all the more douche that you are doing it during the event. If you want to call him out afterwards fine, but I'm not sure right now is the time.

Well a lot of times these storms start a lot higher like 115mph plus so it naturally is going to decrease when it hits land. It's a lot easier to maintain 60mph winds. That would be my guess.

New Orleans has experienced very similar conditions to Katrina. The storm surge is slightly less. If there was anything positive that came out of the Katrina it was the upgrades made to the levees and pumps.

What happens to BR is yet to be seen. I've never said it would be worse than Gustav, only that it could be due to how slow the storm is moving. BR likely won't experience Gustav's wind speeds any time in the near future. But the amount of water/continues mild (relative term) winds could do some serious damage.

Like I said earlier, Gustav was downgraded to a tropical depression within 24 hours of landfall. Isaac is doing unprecedented things right now so it really makes it hard to bet against it.
