Huge difference in an overflow and a breach.

This.
I could see some areas overtopping a little, but these canals aren't all just going to blow open and flood the whole area.

Yeah hopefully it stalling over land will eat up the intensity.

How is the NOLA area? (I read about the possible breach in Plaquemines parish and the water situation in Laplace. Any other cliff notes that I should know? (My heart is in NOLA--was there for Katrina)

A little overflow is a pain in the arse, but I think we all expected that to happen if the storm sat idle for long enough.

Stay safe NOLA people

checking in from near the 17th street canal, just got a few hours sleep. amazingly I still have power, snapped tree limbs are hanging on the power lines, so it is holding on for dear life. limbs down everywhere, large trees uprooted. Direct TV signal still going strong. this shite needs to hurry the frick up

Seems that a few small levees have broken.

Thanks. Broken or topped over? Any idea where, specifically? I have family with no cable or Internet. Communicating by text.

Almost all out of power, but shouldn't be dealing with much flooding. The wind is insane. Still going crazy and kicking loose shite up everywhere. It's nearly ripping the storm shutters from the house. And these aren't cheap shutters!
