how much of the current energy problems are due to Waterford3 being offline?

You can 50 nuclear plants in the area, but if the line and grid are damaged you ain't getting power.

Yeah, we went months without after Katrina, but i had an RV then and it was easier. I guess less upset at not having power and more upset of a third hurricane in seven years where i have a ton off people at My house.. I know they aren't making money with it off. Man it just sucks, you know? I hope we have it in tomorrow.
I'm putting my crew back to work tomorrow and hope to stay busy. Honestly is be okay having no power, if i could get my cable modem back. Cell internet had been very spotty

Probably the main reason why I have a DSL modem.

The local cable companies always seems to go out during hurricanes, whereas the phones lines typically do not.

Yeah, having people is rough. We had ten people in two rooms in Houston for a week the the families fire a month in an RV after Katina.

I just didn't expect this, i would have just left and had a vacation had i known this would happen. Oh well, i have an Alarm and Christmas lights set up to alert me assoon as I'm on the grid.


You get to miss central air real quick.

Think of the US Power grid as a bunch of different sized buckets. Each bucket represents the power generating capacity of a Power Plant Owner. That bucket wont get bigger, and will only get smaller if a plant goes offline. When the bucket is half full and demand is low, the extra space is put on the market and is bought by another bucket who is overflowing because its demand is high. Power is bought and sold realtime by power companies, and meeting that demand is one of the biggest jobs of a utility company.

So, if Waterford is taken off the grid, Entergy might have to buy a little more power off the grid, or they might not be able to sell as much power off their generating capacity. Thats why your lights didn't go out when the plant went offline several days before the storm.

I'm just ready to have my house back. I can't wait for the grid alarm to go off so i can turn the genny off and flip back on some power. Also as much as i complain about energy bills, it sure beats paying $40 a day to keep a window unit and the fridge running.
