take the shroud that the pull string is on off and just wrap wire around the drum on the shaft. but like meauxjeaux says, you need to make sure your carb is right before doing anything.

took it apart and some plastic shite that holds the spring or whatever broke

are you talking about the carb? on some of them there is a spring that sits at the bottom of the bowl and holds the plastic float assembly against the bottom of the carb. nothing holds it on, it just sits on the bottom of the bowl and presses against the plastic deals on that float assembly.

Got my stuff ready to go when the line gets cut, just running it by a few more sets of eyes to make sure i'm not missing anything. Here's what'll be hooked to my generator (5500w/8250w surge). Should be ok, right?

Tappan Fridge 780w (on unit) + surge
Whirlpool Fridge 546w (on unit) + surge
AC 820w (on unit) + surge
Radio 100w (guess/internet)
Computer 45w (guess/internet)
DSL Mod 10w (guess/internet)
TV 178w (on unit)
Lamp 40w (one bulb)
DTV Box 45w (guess/internet)
tower fan 100w (guess/internet)
Total 2664w+surge

Pretty much the only thing that will break that pawl inside the recoil for the pull start is a vapor lock caused be the carve float sticking open and flooding the cylinder with fuel. I bet if you unscrew the oil fill plug on the side of the engine you'll see fuel/oil pouring out because of this.

looks ok, just turn each fridge on individually, and then the ac and then other stuff. shouldnt be a problem either way, but just play it safe.

Yeah, he was able to get it running based on what you told him.

He has a generator hook-up so getting it plugged into the panel is simple.

He is very happy, thanks a lot.

You should definitely get the LSUDad award for DIY service help when the droppies come around.

to find exact wattage, look inside the fridge door, you will see the model number and all.

At one point you will see an Amps rating. take this rating and multiply by 120, that is your wattage, VoltsxAmps=Watts.

he seemed to "kinda" know what he was doing. On that note, just got 3 texts saying they're up and running now. Makes me feel good. I'm about to turn 40 and it makes me feel like I've helped someone.

You ever mess with the Honda eu6500. I always ran it for tailgate but didn't last year and we let it sit with fuel in it. I drained fuel and got it running but it's sputtering and probably won't take a big load. Everything is so tight and carb work will take some time and I don't feel comfortable messing with it. . Any suggestions to get me a few days before I can get it to a shop. Thoughts on mechanic in a bottle?

Seafoam will most likely get that Honda running. Pour in tank, run for 10 minutes. Let sit for an hour then crank back up. Pour whole bottle in for 5 gallons of fuel.

Try mixing some seafoam in the gas. It is going to smoke big time till you burn all gas out. It would be best to only have 1/2 gallon in the tank and ad just a couple oz's.

I couldn't get the damn screws off the carb to save my life. Hammer, channel locks, multiple screwdrivers... that shite just wasn't coming apart. Tried for an hour. I gave up.

We don't really need to run any essentials, it was just for comfort. Looks like we will go without it.

Emailed you my problem.

The carburetor had a lot of crap in the bowl/body, but I cleaned it thoroughly with carburetor cleaner.

All it will do now is crank for about 2-3 seconds and die; only with the choke closed.
