I went to start it and gas came spraying out of the Crankcase ventilation hose. Removed the valve cover and it's just shooting out of the exhaust valve not into the exhaust out of the valve as it goes up to open. Never seen anything like it.
Ethanol related maybe?

But after reading,

Dewalt DG7000 won't power up when the idle control switch is on, but in off position it powers up. WTF is up with that?

You can clean the carb and the jets, soak it in freak gas, get the funk out and it should work. New gas works too.

You will not get these screws off without removing the carb and outing a pair of channel locks on them to break them ferret. That or hitting the head of the screw with a hammer to the butt end of the screwdriver with a baker to dislodge the crap that is built up on the screw threads.

can't get the screws off on mine. Afraid to drill them out as I may not have replacements.
If you have the carb off, take a screwdriver on the screw and put pressure on it. Take a hammer at the same time and tap the end of the screwdriver.
That might work, if not use a set of channel locks on the screws heads.

Is this still necessary with newer portable generators?
Yes for most cheaper gensets. Read the manual for it's output or go on line and down load a manual.

I'd say for the short term the off position is where you need to be!
Also, awesome gesture and great service MJ

My father is raving about how this guy from Tiger droppings just helped him understand his carb on his generator. He was taking it apart in the kitchen when i went over there. He was happy that someone called himout of the blue and helped him.
Very grateful Meaujeaux, you're a good dude..

Are you saying that it runs at idle, but once you plug something in, it is not powering up?

Your pops sounded like good people.
Just got done with my 11th phone call. Hopefully we can get some people online.

find you a piece of wire or something. If everything is right with the gerator it doesnt take much to crank it.
Posted on 8/28/12 at 8:23 pm to BilJ
The crankcase is probably full of fuel from a stuck open float/needle and has vapor locked the piston causing you to break the pull string.

took it apart and some plastic shite that holds the spring or whatever broke
