the woods bordering my property are full of purple blooming wisteria right now. There’s a massive vine growing in my yard that has swallowed a big pine tree and the bordering azaleas. It was there when I bought the place 20 years ago. It has never bloomed

I struggle to believe it’s environmental…the blooming vines are growing in the same soil and the one that doesn’t bloom.

if the non blooming vine would bloom it would be beautiful (it’s massive as I said). Is there any explanation for this other than sorcery?

It's probably a chance seedling that doesn't have the right genetics either for the soil/light conditions or just didn't get the flowering gene. It's also possible that there are male and female plants, and it is a male.

Water it with some liquid Chile pepper focus. If it doesn’t flower with this, it won’t ever flower.

hmmm...if it isnt going to bloom it needs to go, though i doubt i'll be able to eradicate it. maybe i'll just cut it way back and see if that does anything

the plum seedlings i planted last week are already leafing out

And you knew I was going to say this, but you could also cut it back to the ground and graft to the existing rootstock a known flowering variety.

Worse than useless, as it chokes out your plants and sends out runners to choke out more

Agreed, but it's a bitch to eradicate.

Side note…wisteria blooms make excellent jelly. It’s a cross between wine and honey. The white ones have a stronger honey flavor. Do NOT eat the seeds or pods.

Worth a try, Ironite, I’ve used it over the years on many plants and trees.

Wisteria loves neglect. The soil from the pine might be too organic. I had one do the same on a cedar tree. I cut it down.

Take a shovel and cut a bunch of the roots near the base. It'll shock it into thinking it need to reproduce and we'll send out blooms.
