Why am I seeing dead grass in my Bermuda?

When I walk in the yard, I take my foot and drag it along the top and strands of dead grass pop up. Is this just natural for this time of year or is it thatch? As I cut with my reel mower, green clippings are cut but when the roller passes, strands of dead grass come up as well.

Thatch and Bermuda heading into dormancy.

I'm seeing similar with mine. It seems like it's only happening with the celebration hybrid and not the zoysia/common that I have mixed in. The ring has been expanding out, it is much bigger now than when I took this pic last week.

The occasional dead plant popping up is normal.

Do you see any small moth looking critters flying up out of the ground when you walk it?

No, just dead strands of grass.
Edited to add: I did the white paper test by swiping the grass to try to get bugs on it but no bugs, just grass on it. No moths or any critters either.

I just busted a pack of army worms in my lawn. Knocked them out with Permithrin liquid. Last year used Talistar granular. Second year in a row they come at me at end of September. Little light brown moth looking critters flying up off the ground when you walk it.

Has to be thatch or the incoming dormant stage. Sprayed talak a few weeks ago, no bugs, no moths or mites.
