My buddy just built one and I love it! I don't care if it's deemed as trashy.

I've been involved with 3 different projects like this in the last few years. Some are nice, some are just like you posted, build out a living space in a metal bldg.

But if you really want to step it up, a client converted a grain silo into a livable house and it was pretty bad arse.

Yep, I've looked into on several occasions. But, outside of creating more clean span and open space I haven't been able to justify. The cost to build something that doesn't look like a metal building isn't much/any cheaper than stick frame in my area. And I'm only talking about using a better grade/ design of metal for the roof and siding.

Like this stuff LINK

If you don't mind the metal building look than it could be cost effective.

I think they’re awesome. Perfect blend of form and function.

Hope to have one someday

It denotes a stud for an 8’ ceiling height. Pink = 92 5/8”.

I have 120 acres that we’ll be putting one on in the near, but it’s going to 14’ off the ground. I’m going with a more traditional 40x30 with a story and a half.

Meant 50x30. Total about 2100 sq ft.

Not a home, but we had Morton Buildings build a metal building separate from the house and then we finished out a portion of the inside with a studio apartment that serves as my husband's man cave. So maybe 3/4 of the building is a workshop and 1/4 is the man cave? They did a great job.
