regrading my front and back yard after adding drainage. All of my current grass is centipede.

I want to go back with Zoysia. Have seen many here talk about palisades. My goal is to sod the front and hydroseed the backyard (about 8k sq ft). I can get zoysia hydroseeded but its the zenith zoysia.

All that said, is that a good zoysia? Should i match zenith sod in the front then? Is it a big deal if they are different subtypes of zoysia, meaning sodding palisades in the front and hydroseeding zenith in the back?

I have 2 types in the same yard. Whichever is healthier will take over eventually. I have empire which does amazing but in shade it has died off. I just put Palisades down in the bare spots that died off. Well see what happens.

My yard gets full sun most of the day. The only shade it gets is either side of the house opposite the sun. But I have no trees anywhere.

You shouldn't have any issues with two different type of zoysias. Fertilization, mowing, and watering will be the same. Palisades, emerald, geo, and jamur are all cream of the crop.

I have Zeon Zoysia and it’s my favorite by far. I tried pieces of El Toro & Meyers zoysia but IMO the Zeon is the best as it feels great on your feet. Like a carpet

they put zeon on tee boxes in arkansas. It's also around the greens, so easy to chip off of.

I was just making a comment. Most all of Hot Springs Village golf courses (9 courses I think) have Zeon Zoysia around greens and on tee boxes.

Zeon......all day.

I cut mine at about 5/8” and it’s great.

Zeon Zoysia - it does not need a ton of sun either. I have some that only gets 4 hours of morning sun next to an oak tree and it does very well.

How well does the Palisades match up to the Empire? I just tilled about 8ksqft and have mason sand being delivered next week to level. I’ve been going between Palisades and Geo. I have Empire in the front now and I agree, it doesn’t do well in any kind of shade. I know Palisades is the same medium/ broad leaf like Empire, but I’m pulling more towards Geo as everything I’ve read says it’s a little more shade tolerant than Palisades, plus I think I like the look of the finer blade more as it looks more like Bermuda.
