I'm a Kawasaki guy, bought my John Deere X350 with it and it's been good.

Do you really need a zero turn for 1/2 acre? How much of it are you mowing? The entire 1/2 acre? For $5000+ that it cost to buy a good one, you can pay someone to mow. I would think about a good walk behind with Honda motor

I'd get a small size one, if you must get one. 1/2 acre is not large enough for a ZTR, in my opinion.

I have a 42” Huslter Raptor with the Kohler motor. I don’t have a huge yard but I can cut, weed eat, edge and blow everything off in about a hour.

Same here. Just noticed the other day Ryobi has an electric zero turn mower. Was curious about it, and it has surprisingly great reviews on Home Depot.

I have a Scag but. Zero turn is overkill for 1/2 acre, you’lll be finished before it gets warmed up good.Unless that’s what you want.

For a small yard I would recommend the Hustler Dash. It cut my time in half from the last riding lawn mower. If you get a veteran's discount it's less than 2k!

That's silly. Have you ever push mowed a 1/2 acre? You're talking 90 minites, at least, of mowing. I bought a 42" hustler for my last yard, about 1/2 acre, and cut my mowing time to 30-40 minutes. And instead of trying to cut a straight line 150' long with a 24" cut(impossible) the ZTR made life easy.
