I have a cheap Scott’s mini edge guard and it leaves stripes in my yard from where fertilizer falls straight down. It was $25 so no big deal to replace.

I don’t mind spending some money on a good one if it’s quality, spreads evenly, and lasts. I’m trying to stick to a good fertilizer and herbicide program and this is a missing part.

Echo RB-60 is the recommendation I see over and over.

EarthWay model 2150. I wish I would have gotten the 2170 instead.

Key is whatever the setting is cut it in half and go in multiple directions you won’t see the patterns as much

I would get the RB60 then. Or you could look around on Facebook for a used Lesco.

Do those need to be calibrated when you first get them? I have only used the Scotts edge guard Delux and the bags of fert always have a setting for that one.

It comes pre calibrated and there’s a comparison chart on the back of the spreader.

It’s very close to the Scott’s settings.

I had the same problems with the Scott's Edge Guard.

I went to Lowe's and bought a Sta-Green brand. It is a little bigger than the Scott's and after 2 applications I've seen no stripes.

For anyone buying a Sta-Green or Scott's spreader DO NOT BUY ONE ALREADY ASSEMBLED ON THE FLOOR. People and kids screw with them squeezing the trigger and such. You'll get home and slowly realize the calibration is messed up. Either order it or buy it in the box.

Awesome thanks! I had looked at a different brand a while back and it was seeming like it needed to be calibrated so I passed for now because Aintnobodygottimeforthat.gif
