We’re looking to hire a house cleaner

It’s getting hard for the wife and I to keep up with two young kids in many activities. What’s a reasonable price to pay to clean a 2000 sqft home? And what should I expect to be cleaned? I always laugh when I hear people say “we have to clean the house, the house cleaner is coming tomorrow.”

Depends on what you are wanting them to go but general cleaning should be bathrooms, floors, dusting & wiping kitchen counters down for 100-125
More if you want heavy dusting / baseboards / sheets done
Might depend on where you are, that’s what my lady charges

Do you speak Spanish? I had 5k+ sq ft done for $80 with a $20 tip every other week in '22. Would never, ever, happen if we weren't tight with the domestic Colombian home services mafia in Houston.
Write down the list of stuff you want done and then get pricing. Use Microsoft Translate or similar to make it clear to the people actually cleaning your house what you need done, not the English speaking middle managers you're probably going to end up calling.

I would think 100-125$ bimonthly would be fair. We pay 140$ bimonthly and they do a great job. Usually do a deep clean 2x a year for 100$ more that includes wiping all the baseboards, washing all the windows etc. 2800sq ft house.

I laughed too. Now, with 2 and 4 yr olds roaming and overflowing toy inventory, we are in that number that clean up before the house cleaners come.

Price is going to depend on where you’re located. Gated communities and nice neighborhoods typically have higher rates.
We’re on our third house cleaner. We had just moved into our new home and at the time, our house cleaner was biweekly on Fridays. We were going out of town for the weekend and when we returned on Sunday afternoon, I opened the door and felt an extreme amount of heat. Come to find out, she had turned on the fireplace, which stayed on since Friday. I was surprised the house didn’t burn down. I was pissed and fired her immediately.

I pay 150 biweekly for a service to come in. They sweep, dust, mop, clean bathrooms, vacuum, empty wastebasket, wipe down counters and appliances, and change sheets

We have a 4k home. We have them do the downstairs weekly and the upstairs biweekly.
We lay 110 when they just do downstairs and 140 for the whole house.
Mop, sweep, dusting, vacuuming, tidying up(pillows some missed toys, items, making the bed if needed), some will have their cleaners change sheets etc, cleaning showers, toilets, wiping everything down including stove and microwave, etc. Take out trash, change wastebaskets
Yeah it's basically us picking up every single toy and putting it away and doing a little bit of tidying up. I do know some people who have their cleaners do this as well, but either you'll pay more for it or I think they are going to rush through the actually cleaning portion if you don't.
On that note, your house will smell and look wonderful when they're down and then your kids will destroy the house again 3 hours later.

I hear good things about the bikini clad cleaning services.
