Does anyone in the Baton Rouge area besides Salvation Army offer a used mattress pickup service? I know someone will likely pick it up off the street if I leave it in my driveway but I'd like to try to donate it first if possible.

We searched for this, no where takes them unless they aren’t used

Take the covering off and sell the steel for scrap.

I'm in Orleans Parish and they do take them at the City Landfill off Almonaster Rd. but if I remember correctly I believe there is a $20 charge just to take them.
A typical pickup bed loaded was $15 the last time I used the dump but probably higher now since it's been a while.

Which is why in Louisiana, they're mainly dumped on the side of the road.

I haven't read the whole thread, but it may be hard to find places that will take used mattresses due to bed bugs and it being just gross.
Some mattress stores will take them because they sell them to mattress companies to recycle. It's gross, but they do it.

Apparently Salvation Army is willing to take mine after some photos confirming it isn't a nasty bed. I was hoping to find some type of homeless/veteran assistance program but for some reason the board decided to think that a mattress could never be sanitized.

Buying a used mattress is right up there with buying used underwear in my eyes. No way in hell I'm buying either, no matter how bad I may need them if they are used.
I'll go commando and sleep on the in a pile of leaves on the ground first.

Take off the material and they make a great final spread of dirt once you planted grass seed or hunting food plot. Pull behind 4wheeler and makes your seed plot or new lawn like a golf course.

Do you also avoid hotels? You know a lot of nasty shite has happened on those mattresses, with hundreds of different users.

I drug an old one into my back yard and set it on fire. I wanted to know why Alabama fans do this after they lose. (j/k)
Then I used the metal frame as a rustic trellis in the back forty to grow flowering vines or cucumbers.
