Got a quote to till and level my back yard to prep for new sod and it was $1,500.

I need 9-10 pallets of sod and was quoted $300 a pallet for St. Aug and then $150 per pallet installed.

Does that seem about right or should I shop around some more?

Edit: Update: I decided to go with Zion Lawn and Landscaping and they are putting it all in next week. I also went with Zoysia Palisades for my grass. I'm excited.

I've seen prices of sod 2.50 per piece so $300 is a great deal for a pallet.

I’m in NOLA and need the same amount done. That’s about the price I was quoted. Haven’t committed yet. Still a lot of money for grass.

Good to know. I'm thinking about letting them do the tilling and leveling and laying it myself.

How long does it take to grow in and cover? Also, is it a lot of maintenance?

I paid $250 for sod a few weeks ago but i laid my own sod though. I'm in the NOLA area. That price seems about average though.

I'm not so worried about the price of the sod, but more so the price of installation of the sod ($150 a pallet) and the price for tilling and leveling about a 4 to 5 thousand square foot area ($1,500)

Ask yourself do you want to do all of this labor on your own? Most people I've read on this website hated themselves afterwards and said they would rather pay someone.

If you have some young kids it might be worth it to do yourself.

The tilling sounds about average for that type of work.

Oh I have for sure. LOL! But I feel me and my son in law can put it in and save myself $1,500. Still chewing on that one.

Thanks, what I was looking for. Going to pull the trigger on this part for sure.

I called Delta a few weeks ago. St. Aug was $229/pallet plus $120 delivery.

No way I pay 1500 fir them to lay. Takes a man about an hour per pallet. I’ve got to lay 15 pallets. I’m paying my sons buddies 25 per pallet. My son works for free

Im getting zoysia around 230 a pallet. Delivery will be an additional cost and I don’t know what that is.

That's a lot for two people. Grab two more friends and you won't complain nearly as much. 4 more friends (or kids) and you truckin'.
