I have a lift. Bottom of boat gets dirty quick sitting in water.

Drive around and look, not make people use floating docks down here. There is a reason

Don't live in LA. Is it due to wind/storms?

It is green slime growing on everything that touches the water

If you have a bay boat, always lift. I mean if you got a tuna boat then you go floating.

When you say floating dock, are you talking about a floating lift? Something like a hydrohoist? If I had the room for something like that, i'd prefer it over my standard boathouse / lift setup. Mainly for hurricane season. My boathouse isnt very tall so any surge over a couple feet and I have to pull my boat out the water. A floating lift could remain in place and just ride it out as long as was secure.

Any idea what it costs to add a lift to a preexisting dock?

Are you wanted talking about
or
Do you have anything besides the dock? Typically prices are all over the place and you need to get a local price if you need to have pilings driven. In some areas with sand, I think you can jet the pilings into the ground and you can instal the pilings a lot cheaper than bringing out a track hoe, either from on a barge or from land

Solstice Docking
Never seen one in person only videos from boat shows. Different idea. Called a sea pen.

If you're living on the water, you probably want to check out thehulltruth.com
It's not as broad as TD, and certainly not as snarky, but for boats and water life, it's pretty darn good.

Do you have the the pillings driving already? Those lifts are sold by lift weight. The pilling price will be a local cost, and vary by location.

Our setup. 44000lb lift for a 15000lb boat. She survived Ida without a problem.
