Shoot, you’re gonna turn your whole back yard into a garden before long. That’s what my wife always tells me I’m doing. To which I reply “what’s wrong with that?”
Yeah I think I'm done with additions for a while
At most I'll add a compost pile in one of the corners but thats it.
Next project will be building a playset for the boys. There was nothing left of the old one after Laura.

Any recommendations on grow bags?
These are the ones I am currently using. They are on the second season now.
20 gallon Grow bags

Also, has anyone ever used the Alaska Fish Fertilizer?
I have used it for a couple of seasons. I put 1 tablespoon per gallon in a pump sprayer and use it as a foliar spray. Everything seems to perk up and do better when I have used it. I normally go once a week in the evenings.

Good to hear. I bought the small bottle to try. If I’m liking the results, I’ll go ahead and buy a gallon.

anyone know a good warming pad for seedlings? (if it's even necessary)
Probably not necessary, but it does help. As long as you can keep the seeds at or slightly above room temp, they’ll probably germinate. Just might take a little longer. I don’t use one because my grow light puts out a little bit of heat.
As far as a recommendation, I can’t really help there. I had a couple on my Amazon wish list a long time ago. But it seemed like no matter what brand, the reviews were fairly mixed.

Yeah. I had success last year without a heating pad, so I will likely hold off. All of the reviews I saw were mixed as well.

I always start my seeds in paper towels inside ziplock bags with a thick sweater on top to keep warm. Once they start coming out of shell i put in soil under lights. Always had great success

I’m hoping this upcoming cold snap will be winter’s last hoorah. With any luck we’ll start seeing some warmer and sunnier days afterwards. I’d like to start introducing some of my seedling to the elements and harden them off slowly.

This X1000. I had added some sugar syrup and pollen patties to all my beehives, then saw the extended weather change a day after I did it. Ready to get spring in gear.

Doesn't look like it pillage. Seems like the thinking is it will be the beginning of a longer cold period stretching a few weeks. Multiple winter events in the south not being out of the question.

Does anyone here grow blueberries? I have some southern highbush and rabbiteyes in big pots, and I am concerned about the temperatures over the next week. In Arkansas, it will be in the mid and low teens at night all next week. I don't know whether it would be advisable to bring them indoors each night.

Blueberries should be fine. They can survive a lot colder than teens.

Looked at my little greenhouse when I got home today and it was 95 degrees. I think I need to turn off the light during the day when it’s warm

I just saw this posted from the LSU AgCenter. They seem to recommend covering them. ETA: Cover if they’re producing.
Sorry for the facespace link

What species you got?
Posted on 2/12/21 at 2:16 pm to TheBoo
I have the following:
Misty (southern highbush)
Pink Lemonade
Powderblue (rabbiteye)
Sharpblue (southern highbush)
Tifblue (rabbiteye)
They actually just updated our forecast, and it is going to snow about 5 inches with a low of 0 degrees on Monday. I don't want to take a chance and will probably move them indoors on Sunday night through Tuesday afternoon.

You have a bit more going on than my two plants. I currently have a Powderblue and a Brightwell. Interested in the Pink Lemonade but not sure how well they do in zone 9.
Ouch. Hell of an update. Y'all be safe.

I know strawberries and blackberries are cold hardy. But with wind chill temps predicted to be possibly sub zero, I ain’t chancing it.
