So whats the first thing youd check? I have already used the seat tool to replace the rubber bushings but no matter what I turn water all the way off cold stops but hot steady drips. This is really irritating and increasing my water and power bill. Thank you much for any input.

Can you post a picture of your faucet?

Is it leaking around the handle, or leaking out of the faucet?

Leaking out of the faucet as if the water is turned slightly on, but its in fact turned all the way off.

Replace the cartridge O-rings in the faucet valve. Figure out what brand it is, bring to Home Depot. They have most of them in stock. You should be able to disassemble (with the water turned off to that fixture) and match up in store.

Makes sense my brother and I have tried a DIY before but had trouble matching the parts up because didn't know the original manufacturer for the faucet.

Whereabouts are you?
I faced a similar issue and after multiple trips to Lowes & HD, I finally brought the parts into a small plumbing supply place. The proprietor knew exactly which parts I needed and made my life a lot easier.

edit. The place was called Plumbparts, in Kenner.

why?

I mean, I feel like you know the answer. Bad seals or incorrect seals. You can try different seals/kits or change faucet out or can call a plumber. Poor fitting replacement part aren't uncommon esp with those from china and not OEM.

ETA, the answer above is actually helpful. An established plumbing supply house with old farts working the counter can likely help you if you bring them all the parts you can take out and snap some pics of overall faucet.

Bad cartridge. Easy fix if you’re even just a little bit handy. YouTube is your friend.

If in Baton Rouge, go to B&B Faucet on Florida Blvd.

This ^^^

If the faucet is an old style you may not find at Lowes or HD. Take to a plumbing supply place (like where contractors go) and they should be able to take care of you. I have an old faucet and they just sold me the O rings instead of the entire cartridge.

I think it was like $3 for six O rings (I did the other side as well...).

I don’t recommend getting the replacement parts from the big box stores as a lot of what they sell for faucet parts are not OEM and I’ve had issues with them exactly like OP, not a perfect fit and not working.

Some of them are also close but not exact as far as model numbers. Best thing is as said is take some pictures and bring the parts into a plumbing store.

A local plumbing supplier is going to be your best bet. I had an issue several years ago. Forget if it was hot or cold, but our house was built in the late 60s and had original fixtures. I'm sure cartridges had been replaced at some point. Old downstairs tub started dripping, I took the handle off, started googling, couldn't find a part in stock anywhere. Swung by a place near work with the cartridge with me, and the old guy walked straight to where they were. He said that one was so old they didn't make them anymore, but he had a few in stock. He gave three to me, wouldn't charge me anything because he said they'd likely been in the store forever and he couldn't guarantee they would work. I went ahead and replaced both, and kept the other as a spare. Its been several years and haven't had any more drips.

Yeah this plumbing is 40 plus years old. It sounds like I need to call central plumbing in I also had my stepdads younger cousin who works for a plumbing service come in and hoped to do it all after $120 I got the same result so if I have to spend $3-400 lets just do it im tired of this sad saga continuing.
