Had my concrete in a portion of my house stained....after a few days it looks worse and worse, basically spots where the concrete did not take the stain. Can it be repaired or is it a full start over. It's been horrific, and the contractor is giving a million excuses.

Lay some LVT over it and move on.

so its like every other stained concrete floor

if you did your research you woulds have known it does this and creates a pattern not unlike the veins you see in granite

It’s not the veins we knew that but is basically spots about the size of Home Depot buckets, and a lot of foot prints

And the contractor excuse for this is...?

That's like my kids having their faces covered in chocolate telling me they didn't raid the cookies in the pantry

Well you didn't pay the contractor in full, right?

Not much you can do unless you want to get a concrete resurfacer and disc it and start over. It might be caused by some acidic cleaner that already reacted with the concrete. Once the concrete surface reacts to an acid you can apply as much acid stain as you want over and over but it simply won’t react and make a permanent stain.

No easy answers or easy solutions for this.

We had an add on and wanted it stained like the rest of the house. Dude wasn’t even close. Looked liked paint with Hershey syrup poured on it. Then there was grass clippings that got sealed on top. Disaster. Luckily it was an outside room addition.

Hold the balance until the job is corrected.

If anything is spilled on the concrete the stain will not take. Plumbers dripped all over ours. We’ve lived with it, were to the point of wanting to just cover it hardwood or some other flooring.
