One or more of these pests are working an area under an overhang trying to get in behind my wall. What is the best way to deal with this short of deadly force? Will a decoy owl or hawk do any good? Or will they just laugh at that?

one 177 caliber gas operated Gamo pellet rifle will give remarkable results.

Yeah, something like that or a blow gun is the backup plan.

You can trap him with peanut butter. They can not resist it

Live trap, peanut butter and maybe one day

Either a live trap or a big spring trap

A squirrel is nothing more than a tree rat, and once you get that into your head, killing it is not an issue.

They will do untold damage to electric wiring, insulation in the attic and if you have that cheap arse flex duct for your AC and heat unit, they will chew holes all throughout it if so inclined.

My brother-in-law is now replacing a bedroom ceiling, flooring and ceiling fan/light fixture due to a squirrel eating through some PEX water lines in his attic. frick squirrels.

Kill him. 22cal Gamo. Or as said you will regret the damage.

Make a roux and enjoy.

Had a lot of problems in past and still on guard…
Live traps outside worked well.. they would run on my fence and then onto a tree.. then my roof etc… I built a little deck on the fence to place the trap on.. held on with bungee cord.. I used a cracker.. smeared peanut butter on it stuck it on the trigger thing in trap… I also sprinkled popcorn seeds just outside of trap and into trap.. I stopped counting at 26 squirrels…. Three possums and a rat the first year.. I had a large tree they used as a highway from fence to my house which I took down also…

They will do damage … never was able to trap them inside the attic..

SO this is the third year in a row I have had squirrels in my attic. They come in for the winter to have babies I guess and once the babies get big enough they leave for the summer. One reason I haven't killed them yet, especially this year, is I assume by the time I figure out they are up there, they have already had babies and I don't want to kill the parent(s) with babies in my attic for them to die up there. Someone tell me if my line of thinking is correct. Also, once they move out this year, I am for sure getting the 3 or 4 soffit points they are using for access sealed up. Whoever built my house left too big of gaps between the soffit and the roof sections they tie into.

I’m currently working on a major rewire of my house right now due to squirrel damaging wiring in my attic. Thousands of dollars.

Get those frickin rodents out of your attic and keep them out.

I’ve been using conibear traps, works pretty good. I role up some bread balls and smear some peanut butter on the outside as bait.

Like salmon to the river, the squirrels will keep coming back. Homes are built with gaps and they will keep coming back and finding a way in and having babies one generation after another. You have to kill them all, IMO.

They will come back… you need to trap or kill them… I had one chew a hole in soffit up on a two story house.. I went into attic and repaired hole from inside.. two days later squirrel. Chewed a new hole on other corner of same soffit.. I was trapping and had caught a few…..but I also went and bought a whisper pellet gun.. have not used it but if I see them up there again chewing I will not hesitate.. I trap now routinely and have them pretty much under control…

Ha, I'm an outdoorsman to the core. I live in a neighborhood though, so busting out the pellet gun could get me in some trouble. I tried to trap them in the attic with a cage a few years ago using peanut butter and no takers. I now know they are just going to keep coming back so will have to blast them. I'm not getting on a ladder 20' up there to seal it off after, so will have to hire someone. I was trying to avoid having to hire someone prior to now.

That'll work. May not be legal everywhere without some special license/permits, so be careful with that.

Invite them in. Have a party. Fatten them up. Make a roux. Once drunk, wring their necks and clean. Put in gumbo. Enjoy your company with the squirrels. It's really that simple.

I think as long as it is during squirrel season, you don’t have to worry about that….hunting seasons are designed to avoid interfering with the reproductive cycles of the animals.

FYI…saw a new one sneaking around this afternoon.. put my live trap out on fence with cracker/peanut butter on it and popcorn seeds just out of cage and into cage.. just got back from dropping him off at the park….
The popcorn seeds trailing into the cage upped my success rate a lot.

Take care of this ASAP, the MFers got into my wires in my camp and burned it to the ground.
