ISO of a decent, lightweight cordless battery powered weedwhacker. Have a quality Stihl, but I'm too short & puny to use it comfortably, and spouse's back has him out of the lawncare chores for the foreseeable future. Is the DeWalt 20v model sold by HD worth a damn? It only weighs 8 lbs, according to the specs.

Black and Decker 20V weedeater/edger

90 bucks, but make sure to have two batteries charged depending on yard size. I can typically get by with one full charge, but depending on how much you have to do having two will be more than enough. I love it, works great.

ETA: My only complaint is it may cost a little more for the amount of string you use but it is as easy as it gets to change it.

don't have one yet but kinda like the Ryobi 40 V one at HD, the simple way to add string is interesting, 8.9 lbs

I have the same one and it does everything I need it to. As easy as it gets to operate. I'll echo what the above poster said about having at least 2 batteries so you can swap out and not have to wait to charge one.

I have a few other B&D units in this ecosystem. Also have the blower and a drill that I can swap the same battery into whatever I need. Great for convenience. The blower is pretty weak, but if all you need is occasional blowing leaves/grass/dust off driveway, garage or patio, it works fine. They're all very lightweight and quiet too.

i have a decent amount to weedeat and have been really impressed with my ryobi 18v. It's super light and easy to use. Esp if you get a 4 or 5 amp battery.

Yes, any of the 20v models you buy in lowe's or hd will be fine assuming you don't have a massive yard.

Ryobi 40 V one at HD

I bought this about a month ago and I'm loving it so far. It's got a detachable head and I'm thinking about buying the edging attachment for it as well. No idea how big your lawn is, but it probably takes me ~10-15 minutes to edge the house, fence and driveway and it only uses about 1/4 of the battery, so it seems to have pretty long life.

Good, as long as the easyfeed doesn't break. Unfortunately,, it has been my experience that it will.

I have had the 40V LYNXX from harbor freight for about 3 years now. Thing is a beast. I charge it about once a month.

I got this one from EGO:

LINK

It has a carbon fiber shaft and the string is auto-loaded at the touch of a button. Replaced a gas trimmer with it and couldn't be happier. I can just pick it up and it's instantly ready. Tons of power and super convenient. If the battery dies, I can just charge the battery while I'm finishing mowing and the battery is charged by the time I'm done. Just bought the edger from the same product line - can use the same battery interchangeably.

Same also re: other stuff. Yeah the blower is more a sweeper than high powered thing but as you say is perfect for quick easy work like quick blow off of porch or pool area.

LOL Ron Swanson I’m not. Small gas engines are a PITA. Plus our Stihl is heavy and obnoxiously loud. I figured a battery cordless is cheaper than hiring the neighbor kid to do it 3x.

I've tried about 5 or 6 different ones and the only one worth a damn, that is that had a battery that lasted longer than 10 minutes, is EGO. They are more expensive than the others but worth it.

The Snapper XD 82V trimmer is a really good platform to buy in, and the trimmer itself is very good. It supports attachments and you can load up to .095" string into it without having to worry about spools.

I have this. I'm sure it isn't the best but it works great for me. Super light. Great edging with the rollers.

I’ve had an Oregon for years and love it.

Pricey but the batteries are powerful and last.
