Where in the BR area should I be looking?
Half acre yard. Thinking a smaller deck due to yard size
Upgrading from a push mower, so anything with a seat is an upgrade

Yep. A 42" is as big as you need.

I bought a Hustler Dash XD 42” this spring but it was $2800. I love mine. I’ve got about 1/3-1/2 an acre and can cut the grass in no time. Definitely recommend looking into that one.

Happy with my 42" Hustler Raptor Limited with a Kawasaki engine.
Gautreaux's on Airline was where I bought mine.
With the mulching kit you eliminate the side discharge chute and it is even more compact and maneuverable.

Just bought a 42” Hustler Raptor X this year…..one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Same size yard as you and I can cut in 25 min tops. So easy to hop on after work and get the shite done.

John Deere 48" will be perfect. Had mine for 5 years, and I cut 1 acre. Zero issues. $2400

Did the mulching kit come with it or was that an add? Went get a price quote on this model this morning. Everything is basically 3+ months out right now for inventory.

Diesel powered 72" deck Kubota is the only way to go!!!!
Naaa, just kidding.
I ran a Toro Timecutter for a couple years before upgrading. It was a 50" cut and worked well. Descent mower but granted I had it less then 2 seasons.
Dave's hardware in Denham. I think it was about $3000 at the time.
Went in to get a belt for my snapper and came out with the Toro. Weird how that happened.

The mulching kit is extra on most models.
I was going to get a kit as well but talked to my FIL first. He has had a ZTR for years. He suggested that I hold off on the kit and try cutting the front, then the back, then do whatever trimming you have. After that raise the blade a half inch and run over whatever clippings you have left (kind of let the clippings brown up a bit). He told me they was disappear.
I was skeptical, but I tried it and he was right. I cut my St. Aug grass to 3 in every week (usually Saturday or Sunday)....I've used this method every time and the clippings just disappear.
If you intend to go longer than a week between cuts it may not work for you....or if you have different grass or something like that.
However, it works for me and saved me about 200 bucks plus the time and aggravation of putting it on.

Likely an add-on.
Worth it's weight in gold!

It was an add on for Hustler.
It is a few pieces; block off plate, circular piece around one of the blades, and hi lift blades for mulching.
It works very well and the more often you mow the better. It works best with dry grass so I tend to mow in the afternoon. In peak growing season with rain mowing every 4-5 days works best.

Love my mulching kit. Did a few mows before it came in and clippings were a constant pain getting tracked in the house by dogs. Mulching kit installed and no more.
