Push mower help, is it shot?

I have a husqvarna 775ex push mower. I ran out of gas mowing yesterday and filled it up and the mower wouldnt crank. I tried using starter fluid and it didnt work. So I let it sit thinking I flooded it. Came back and it was leaking gas from around the carburetor.
Thinking the carb got trash in it and held the float up, I removed it and cleaned it. Reattached, gas came back into the bowl and no more leaking.
Now it wont crank. Took the filter housing off to watch the carb linkage(thinking i didnt attach it right) and it cranked. Then commenced to shooting some oil/gas out of the breather tube.
Now it wont run with the breather tube attached to the air filter housing. Continues to put out small amount of oil/gas out of the breather tube but runs fine if its disconnected.
What did I do and can it be reasonably fixed? Thanks

You can probably buy a new carb online for like $15. If it was running fine it will run again. Given that, I had a carb issue on a Toro last year where it was constantly not getting gas so I replaced the carb. This spring, it kept flooding...wtf. I tried and tried by adjusting the carb and float but never could get it to run right, I gave up and spent $700 on a Honda.
So I wouldn't follow my advice.

Yeah I thought about just buying a new one. Internet research points the oil issue to crank case type stuff and thats more that I want/ever have dealt with so I am trying to decide if I just want to buy a new mower.
Hoping the H&G experts can tell me where to add a rubber band and paper clip to get it running fine again

Try the Outdoor Board as well. They're usually helpful on things like this.

Thanks, I will post there too. I wasnt sure which board would be best

Dumb question but did you pull the plug? You could have fouled it when you ran out of gas and then flooded it.
Paper clip is too big to clean the jet in the carb. Need a finer wire.

With the oil leak, did you turn the unit on it's side?

If the float stuck it's possible that the gas leaked into the cylinder and oil. Is the oil level too high or overfilled? Smell the oil to see if it smells like gas. The oil/gas mixture maybe causing you to have too much of a gas/oil mixture where normally there would only be oil causing it to blow out the breather tube.
If the oil does have gas in it. Drain it and refill with oil to the proper amount. Run it without the breather tube and it should clear up any left over oil/gas.

Yeah there is gas in the oil. Is that because more gas was dumped through the carb and over filled into the oil reservoir?
I haven't over filled the oil or tilted the mower any time around when I had the issue.

Yes the float sticks and gas from the carb/gas tank leaks down through the cylinder and into the oil

What did you do to clean the carb.?
How thorough of a job?

I removed it from the motor, took the gaskets off, took off the float needle and hosed it down with carb cleaner. Let it dry and hosed it again.
Put it back on and had the afternoon trials. Gave it a few more sprits While moving the linkage to make sure everything was flapping.
The breather hose spewed less fluid as it went so I believe the carb problem has been solved. Going to change the oil and spark plug in the morning and hope all is back to running.
I've had the mower a little more than 8 years and have never had an issue with it. Overall a great unit.

In the morning take the spark plug out and then pull the starting rope a few a times while watching to see if any gas blows out the spark plug hole. If yes your carb float is still leaking. If no install the new spark plug and change the oil.

Welder's torch tip cleaners work great for this job. Just go to any welding supply company and they'll have them by the tons.

Or take the twisty off a loaf of bread and pull the wire out of it. That's what I do.

Changed the oil and spark plug. Still had the breather tube off(to see if any more fluid came out) and it cranked right up. No fluid from the breather and reconnected it. Ran fine for 5 minutes.
Let it cool off for a few minutes and tried to crank again. wouldnt crank. Disconnected the breather, cranked right up. No fluid from the breather. connected it back and it ran fine.
So I guess its fixed... sort of. At least I can cut the yard friday. Thanks for the help everyone.

You want my Husqvarna push mower? My front wheel ripped off and instead of fixing it, I just bought an Ego.
