I have a few that have lost the same color, both do the exact same thing on color rotation. Any thoughts/experience to share on a potential cause and fix? My thoughts are possibly wiring, voltage issue with these two lights, or is it replacement time? This issue has arisen in the last month. Thx.

I just paid a shite load of money to have one of my pool lights replaced. I am sure I overpaid.

Its replacement time and Pentair is such a shitty company so don't feel obligated to stick with their garbage. I’ve changed 7 glo-brites over the last 2 years.

Thanks, gents. They’re $500-$600 per light the cheapest I’ve seen.

Prepare to drop a couple grand every few years. There are some compatible brands with 3 year warranties, so you can get 5-6 years out of a purchase.

My pool lights have been out for a year

I had several replaced under warranty on the pool I had built in Baton Rouge plus LED bubblers.

bro I am sure that he chinese have come up with some way to replace those. my pentair lights are the old school ones that had the big round enclosure that was sealed and you would just take it apart and replace the bulb. I bought bulbs and seal kits for real cheap on amazon, and upgraded to led bulbs with different colors and stuff.

pool companies and contractors try to frick you so bad on anything. recently I swapped my pump to a vfd pump and I bought a well supported chinese model for like $700 vs the pentair version that was minimum 3x the cost.

these may be some options for you

Amazon sells some do it yourself ones online for around $400 a light. The issue with the LED lights is that the casing, light and wiring are all one unit. There is no changing a bulb, so you have to pull out the wire and fish the new line back to a transformer for each light.

I'm not sure how everyone decided to switch over to LED for pool lights when they are 100Xs more expensive and go out after a couple years. They are supposed to be rated for 10,000+ hours, but the casings don't hold up.

Thanks. I don’t know what I will do yet. I set the panel to “Caribbean” in the meantime since the missing color (red) isn’t used.

that shouldnt be a big deal. get a small container of pullstring and use the old light to pull the pull string thru. then tie the pull string to the new light and pull it back thru.

I can tell you right now there is no way I would pay that amount of money for the pentair lights when they fail so much.

When we bought our house 8 years ago sellers told us the pool light didn't work, no big deal. Come to find out it was fiber optic with a color wheel. Yanked all the sh!t out and replace with LED. Went with SR Smith system, and has been good so far. And when we needed help they always responded.

Mine have lost colors like others have mentioned in this thread. It's the shitty Pentair mini lights. I may replace them with something one day. We really don't use the pool that much at night anymore, so I just don't care.

Happened to mine seemingly overnight. Had them changed out this summer.

They were installed with original home owner when pool was built around 2017 or so. So I guess they lasted 8 years. It was expensive but whatever.

I really like that I can make purple and gold. But I don’t understand why I can’t choose just red even though red clearly exists in the red/white/blue color flash. Doesn’t make sense.

Pool at my previous house could do red but couldn’t choose purple unless flashing through colors. I really don’t understand why.

Thx. I think mine might be part programming part mechanical failure.
