Where is the best place to buy pavers, sand, and gravel in BR?
What is a better installation method, gravel/sand or sand/paver panel?
What size gravel?
Want to install pavers at various locations on the exterior. Will most likely be DIY.
Thank you for any input.

1/4-0 Limestone. Decomposed granite, if available in your area. Rent a compactor, and compact every 1/2".

Built a patio on the back of my house a few years ago.
Used crushed limestone base with a layer of sand on top of that.
Laid the pavers and then filled the cracks with a mix of sand and mortar mix

A few years ago I a long walkway and patio.. Surprisingly I got a good deal on the pavers at Lowes (and free delivery on 4 pallets).
Don't skimp on the fancy paver sand, the locking type sand is totally necessary.

polmeric sand w/ mortar after they are set is key after they are placed

Add on question: I have an existing concrete pad but I’d like to expand the area and put down pavers. Any guidance on using existing pad? I guess the trick would be making sure the added area is level with the pad area?

no advice for installation, but we had our existing concrete covered with matching thinner-depth pavers and then the 'real' full-depth pavers installed level with them so it was one cohesive area... for aesthetics, I'd check to see if that's an option for your project.

Install with spacers and fill with the sand, or install flush and allow for natural imperfections in the pavers to allow for the mix to settle in between?

I actually went with the interlocking foam underlay with crushed gravel below and have been really pleased with the result 7 years in.
Minimal heaving despite yearly frost/freeze.
