Design it with plenty of counter space next to the grill. Do the sink now. Definitely get hot water. Drain to an unused part of your yard or the pond, your family isn't taking showers in the sink... Don't make your cutouts for ice maker, fridge, etc. too tight to the ones you have currently so that you have space to change them out later with something else that may be slightly bigger. Buy nice or buy twice. Quick connect for you natural gas burner for frying (unless you are putting a burner).

Is there a decent free or cheap design software/app similar to your mock up?

if you have zero drafting skills sketch up is easy to use. Or…go old school with graph paper and a scale ruler

skyscrapers were designed and built with pencil and paper

I started my build as a "L" shape then eventually settled on a "U" shape as it did not take up any more space and it gave me more counter top space and a bar area as we do a lot of entertaining and serving. A fridge is a must and its cheap. It stick with as large as a under counter fridge as you can fit.

Like others have stated, do a sink. I use my sink as much as anything back there and not just when I am cooking. I have a 32" Flat top and a 36" pellet smoker in my set up. I can cook anything that I have ever cooked with that set up and I really like it. Make sure you build it in a way that you can use a hose and clean it off. Make sure your appliances can handle that. My kitchen is under my Lanaii but still gets wet and dirty so I use a hose and rinse it off then clean with rags.

My Lanai had pavers on it and I would prefer something else. You are going to drip grease when you cook and pavers are not optimal. I ended up cutting a piece of rubber flooring to fit in my cooking area and I just take it out and spray it off occasionally.

Having lots of counter space for cooking and serving is my biggest advice. I also designed mine at bar height and have a bar overhang on the entire outside .

The biggest one for me that I haven't seen yet for me would be a large hub drain to dump water after the boil. Something like this 8x4 reducer that you don't have to be too precise to make it all in there.

sink water is one thing, I’m not sure I’d dump crawfish boil water straight into a pond LOL

Yes I missed that part about not tying into the sewer. Don't do this if it drains anywhere but the sewer system.

You don’t need all this shite, get a blackstone and smoker. Then buy a stainless steel countertop sink/prep table for $500 and run the waterline to yard connected to hose bib. $1500 solution absolute max and you can do everything these guys got.

Ice makers constant maintenance, fridges don’t hold up well outside and they constantly run. All that fancy shite breaks and ends up costing you a fortune. Throw your beer in a ice chest.

Appreciate the input, but this is NOT what I'm going for. I already have my separate cooking appliances for years now and want to upgrade to something more of a permanent fixture.

I have a sink and love it...can't imagine not having it....also have a pull out for trash and recyclables.

what about a beverage fridge?

This thread definitely started me re-thinking the sink, and after being outside all weekend and going to the side of the house to use the hose continually I realized just how useful the sink would be so I'm now including it in my must haves!

Will also have a trash can

Fridge I believe we will do. I'm uncertain if I want to get a small beverage to include in the kitchen build or see about getting a larger camper size or possibly even full size to add outside on the patio elsewhere

Is your garage close by? You could have a full size in there

I like having a place where I can keep a small stack of wood dry for cooking.
