my neighbor was throwing away a dewalt jobsite radio. my son grabbed out of the trash because he wanted t take it apart just to see how it looked in pieces. we discovered it was not working because it blew a fuse. we replaced the fuse and brought it back to him. he rewarded me with a case of white cans the next day, best neighbor ever

Guy put a 10 inch table saw on the street, I asked him and he said it quit working and he has another one. Picked it up, started tracing the voltage... the rocker switch was full of sawdust. Cleaned it out and now I have a table saw.

Gosh dang, gotta love it when it's that easy.
I did something similar with a window unit once. Was a switch problem. It would blow cold and in the middle of the night start spraying water all over the room so you would wake up soaked. I tried drilling a hole in the back to drain the water and ended up nicking the coil.

Wife called me panicking one day say the freezer went out and was leaking water. Asked me who to call. I said no one. Let me get home. Freezer was set too cold so put it back down normal range. Flipped the breaker for about 10 minutes. Turned it back on and working. Assumed it just froze itself. Also bought an echo edger for $50. Guy said the primer bulb was broke so he bought a new edger. $5 pack of 3 sized bulbs and 4 screws later I had a brand new $300 echo edger

Tillers are very easy to flip too. Most sit up for so long full of nasty mud people will push them to the street or sell them for $50. It's easier to spend the $100 on a new predator engine from HF than to try to repair an old one. Takes about and hour to do the engine swap once you know where to look for all the bolts. You can usually sell them for $250-300 once fixed.

I just bought a 1996 Yamaha gas powered golf cart for $150. Lady said it ran the last time her FIL used it but needed a battery. At first I thought it was all batteries and I was gonna spend $1k on batteries and be a fix until I picked it up and it’s gas. Never really messed with small engines but I lobe fixing stuff up too. I changed all the fuel lines, and took off the carburetor and fuel pump, throwing them away and ordered some off amazon, waiting for them to come in. Going to be my garden Cart!
