We have an OLD Onan 30kw generator that needs to be replaced.
Who makes the best in this range? I was leaning Kohler.

Doesn't Cummins own Onan now?

Liquid cooled 1800 rpm Cummins would be the ticket.

Can you fix the Cummins? Diesel gensets just aren’t as good as they used to be and are way more expensive thanks to emissions equipment.
I did some business with Central Georgia Generator as they still have a lot of older, simpler stuff and was generally very pleased. We put their units through hell and back in the Texas desert and always got at least 12k hours on those little Kubotas.

Onan still makes the best.
What's wrong with your old one? I may want it.

Is is nat gas? Diesel? Propane? Liquid cooled?
Lots of details needed. Most people manage just fine with an air cooled unit since it’s emergency duty only but if you can swing a liquid cooled they don’t burn as much oil and can run for a longer duration. But more maintenance is involved since there is a radiator and cooling system as well. Up to you to make the determination.

It's natural gas. We have a big house and lots of stuff to power, so I wouldn't consider an air cooled
