TIA. For general cleanup. Won’t use it for wet projects, just garage cleanup…

been very happy with my 6hp(lol) 16gallon Ridgid shop vac. I use it daily. Keep expecting to the bearings to start whining because its seen a ton of use and its several years old. Will buy another asap if I can't replace the bearings.
I almost always use a bag in addition to the canister filter. I buy the Powertec bags off amazon. Also use it with a cyclone separator if I'm vacuuming large quantities of sawdust and stuff that would fill the bag quickly.
The bag adds a layer of dust removal that the cannister would clog with. And I think it keeps the superfine particles from re-circulating through the blower assembly and into the room again.

Do like 99% of Americans and just buy a Rigid. I have one for the shop/garage/vehicles and we have numerous at work. Never had any of them give out with quite a bit of use on all of them.
Not sure if it's the brand Lowes still carries but I bought a Shop-Vac from them years ago and it was awful. The motor was just super weak. Maybe they've gotten better, but just from personal experience, I would stay away from them.

Family member who is a contractor uses a Ridgid. I bought a cheaper one recently and noticed basically every non-shopvac brand is the same manufacturer (e.g., craftsman is same as the walmart brand).

I don't know if it's made anymore but I got a ShopVac 6hp SVX2 14-gallon:

It basically had the most CFM in a compact form at the time I was researching, got it at Lowes. A big Rigid model will work well too but they are so much louder, bought one for my parent's and I hate using it even though it does work well. If I ever have to get another I will pony up for an industrial 55-gallon drum top unit. They are far more powerful than anything you can get at a box store and quieter but cost $500 - $800 just for the head unit and hose..
