Why buy a protection plan? Why not just buy a dependable dishwasher? Then wait for a repair guy to show up?

I’ve bought the “dependable” brand on a couple of occasions and it still broke. My experience the protection plan was worth the $.

Don't get Samsung.

Agreed, the only thing good that Samsung makes is their TV's, perhaps their phones but I've never owned one.

Get a wife

Since the OP is married, he needs a "new" wife to handle the dishes.

Terrible advice. But a GE and replace every 5 years. Much cheaper than a wife, and won’t frick the neighbor.

What are the OTs recommendation?

Do not buy it from Lowe's. When it breaks a month in they make you take the warranty up with the manufacturer. We went over 3 months without a working dishwasher. We paid Lowe's for the dishwasher and to install it and they basically said it was not their problem.

NOT kitchenaid. We ordered all kitchenaid appliances from local appliance store- all ended up being pieces of crap with plastic parts.

lol I have a kitchen aide and love it. Bought it at Lowe’s almost 11 years ago and have never had an issue.

And it’s quiet .. I turn it on when dinner is done and we’re watching tv. Never hear it.

Was maybe $650 11 years ago?? Stainless tub.
