I want to paint my 10 - 12 feet high house fascia without having to buy or rent a scaffold. I prefer to not have to stand on a ladder or ladder platform to paint. My bakers scaffold isn't tall enough. I have plenty of wood to build a scaffold but it would be heavy to move so I guess that I would have to put wheels on it. Leveling wheels and leveling jacks are expensive so if there is a good way to level it without buying them let me know. As far as stability, my plan would be to attach 2 8 foot boards and stake them in the ground, but I am open to other ideas. Thanks.

you can double stack bakers scaffolds, did it when working on a 14' ceiling. And they make outriggers for added stability. So buying an extra set may cost the same as trying to rig up what you want. Plus you'll have it for life...

If you have or can borrow 2 folding ladders place the boards between the ladders for make do scaffolding.

Buy scaffolding at Harbor Freight for $250. Sell it on Facebook Market Place when your done for $100-200 or do the same with the cheaper Amazon scaffolding.

Building scaffold out of wood is not something I'd spend much time thinking on. The best thing I can think of if you don't want to get more scaffold is to take 2 step ladders and a 2x12 spanned between them. You'll be walking on a plank so its not as secure as scaffold.
Ideally you'd have step ladders that are at least 8' tall if not 10. That way the board will be more on the middle steps and not near the top of a 6' ladder for a 10' reach. I've used boards as long as 12'. Just find one that has as few knots toward the middle region and be sure and test its strength while near the ground.

Jerry rigging scaffolding is a terrible idea even at only 10-12 ft, imo.

How far off is your bakers scaffold? Most people can reach to 6.5 to 7 ft so you just need to get to 6 ft high? Are you trying not to paint over your head?

At only 10-12 feet a good A frame ladder is really your best bet by far if you don't want an extension ladder. By the time you set up scaffolding and move it around and what not just once or twice you'll be done with a ladder.
