Based on the advice from many on this board, plus Napoleon the appliance repair guy that used to post frequently on the board, I replaced mine with a Speed Queen, I also strongly considered the Maytag Commercial, from recommendations from the board. Similarly priced.

I purchased the SQ TR-5 model. Mine is 8 months old, I’m very happy with it, it replaced a Whirlpool Cabrio, that also liked, and died at 10 years of age.

Some recommend the SQ TC-5 model. There is also SQ TR-3 and TR-7 model - difference being the number of washing functions and warranty period, and of course price, but I think all 3 models have basically the same “guts”.

If you do Speed Queen get the TC5. We got a TR5 when they first came out and it sucks. Doesn’t clean the clothes nearly as good as our Kenmore.

Our Maytag with agitator has been great for $700. Speed queen is better but $$$.

I stand corrected the TC5 is less than I expected.

Our Maytag Bravos MCT Commercial stopped running properly last week after having it less than 4 years. Repairman said it needs a new control board (mother board?). Two estimates to purchase and install were between $300 and $400. We didn't buy the extended warranty because I won't buy another one if it won't last past the manufacturer's warranty.

We were happy with the Maytag and had no problem whatsoever until the control board went out.

Speed Queen TR 5 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

whichever one you buy, make sure it does NOT have all the fancy bells and whistles. Just wash and rinse cycle. Select the brand you want and purchase the most basic model.

Thank me later...
