Moving in the next 6 months and looking to buy some new items for the house. Want good stuff but also don’t want to break the bank.
What’s yalls best but affordable options on the following:
King size mattress
Fridge
Washer/dryer
Got the fridge and washer/dryer.
Went with a Samsung fridge with the water dispenser on inside, ice maker in freezer.
Got the GE smart washer/dryer. Front load washer. I know some weren’t fans but these seemed to have good reviews. Also got the pedestals with the washer and dryer.

Spend the money. Speed Queen Washing Machine TR3/TR5 or TR7. The numbers represent the warranty in years. The 7 has more electronics, whereas the 3 and 5 are very basic. Same goes for the dryer.

Fridge
Buy one that does NOT have the ice maker in the door - very limited options if you do this, but you'll save yourself the future headache. Fisher Paykel has a model. It costs more, but could save you in the long run.

I found a guy locally that makes custom mattresses. Saved a lot of money, and it's great quality.

excellent advice all around, especially on the no ice/water on the fridge door. Never had one, never will

I wanted the ice and water maker. I didn’t realize they were that frowned upon.
Good advice!

In general, yes but there's always an exception to every rule.
I got this Whirlpool back in 2018 and haven't had a single issue with it (knock on wood). I mainly got it because it has dual icemakers so if the one in the door went out, I had a backup. I also was looking for one that the icemaker didn't take up a quarter of the room in the fridge area. Between both icemakers, I don't run out of ice even if we have people over.

I've been listening to your advice on building -- and BlueStar!

I've had a Zinus king sized mattress for eight or nine years. It was only $500 when I bought it.
Samsung fridges are fine, I've had four in 18 years (leaving them when I sell the house.) Other than the ice maker shitting the bed on the last one, they're fine. Samsung and LG appliances (top load only) have been perfectly fine over that period, but I also get the ones that are 1) hit one button 2) Spin the dial 3) Press start, not anything more complicated than that.

Get you a cheap set like GE'S Hotpoint. I got mine for like $800 total 11 years ago and they're still going

Mattress: You can't go wrong with Rooms to Go. They have a wide variety of brands and offer zero interest.
Fridge: Frigidaire and GE are good brands. Stay away from Samsung and LG.
Washer/Dryer: If you don't go with Speed Queen, buy the extended warranty...especially if you buy from a big box store. All other brands are essentially the same.

Will Cover offered up solid advice
I'd just ask you think about getting items that are longer lasting. Rather than the "affordable" parameters think "value" which might be a few coins more. You don't want to replace stuff every 4 to 6 years.
This Maytag machine is stellar and will last very long - not like the rest of the Maytag models which are still good. Elimination of a digital panel is a strong point.
Another great washer is made by Miele. There is not a more reliable washer out there.

More parts to break and expensive to fix. Cheaper to get Primo water and one of those counter top ice makers

Mattress center does like 30 or 40% off the returned mattresses. Theyre all professionally cleaned. We got an awesome tempurpedic for cheap

also talk to Scott at capital bedding. A custom mattress is a nice nice upgrade from factory
