Light fixture question w/ incredible drawings!

One of our rentals has a 6" can light in the dining room and it quit working today. Went and picked up a new light to replace it only to realize that the flush mount part has a far smaller OD than the hole
You guys have any ideas of how to rectify this issue? See drawings below
Thanks in advance!

The flush mount is 4" max, the opening is 6"

the flush mount should pull down so you can get to the bulb.
There should be wire hangers that will hold it to the can.
If I'm understanding your issue, which I may not be

So did you buy a 4" can instead of a 6"?

No, getting rid of the can altogether b/c it's old as dirt. Got a new updated light but the trim piece that attaches to the ceiling is only 4" so it couldn't mount.
@TAMU, I think that goof ring is perfect! Will have to see if they have them in stock.
Thank you guys

They make replacement fixtures that fit in the larger openings, $36 for a box of 4. You are seriously wasting time and money trying use a adapter for something that didn't need one in the first place.

If the goof ring doesn't work, you can use a medallion like this to make it look fancy. I know people that use these in older homes to avoid fixing the holes around fixtures.

If I follow the question, you have a 6" hole and bought a replacement fixture that is too small? (also not much room above?)
Amazon has a ton of wafer disc led lights to replace cans. Check the specs as they all differ in size. They may list 4", 5",6" but check the actual dimensions of each.
