Let's talk about these mosquitos

My neighbor gave me the number to BR's mosquito abatement, but they can't come for another week. Chances are these mosquitos are going to be a major pain for the near future, so calling for a weekly spray might be a bit of a hassle, especially if more people start using them and backloading their schedule.
I've seen a Ryobi fogger/mister that holds .5 gallons for $35 (tool only) that has a 15 ft range. Seems solid. Only downside I see is having to refill several times if you have a large space to work with. Anyone have any recommendations on foggers/misters? Can't say I feel like lighting citronella candles from now through the end of summer.

I picked up a Black Flag propane fogger yesterday. My electric one finally crapped out after 16 years. It made a noticeable difference pretty quickly. Going to make a pass around yard again this morning while it’s calm.
I’m going to spray yard with Malathion here shortly as well.

I do have a big space and went with this and use talstar : fogger
No mosquitoes for 3 weeks, they start appearing again and I fog again. Went from never being able to be outside at sunset, to being able to enjoy being outside.

I have a guy that comes and sprays every month. Even in these "swarms", we see very few of them.

What do they charge?

Any significant differences between a propane fogger vs. a cold fogger? In terms of coverage and performance.

I put down a couple gallons of diluted Bifen in my yard yesterday and it worked pretty well.

I had mine sprayed by the EBR mosquito abatement crew this week, haven't seen much change in the evenings. Those mutant frickers are still in attack mode.

I have heard that skeeters hate the smell of catnip plants. Only issue is that cats love the stuff, it is said to give them a good buzz.
Also read they hate the smell of marigold plants.
IDK how true this is but has anyone tried using plants?
I don't like dumping lots of chemicals around the old homestead.

Got the same setup. It’s awesome.

Answering myself since I did a bit more research. The thermal foggers are good for outdoor use and cold foggers are better for indoor application.
At this point I would just need to see which thermal fogger insecticides are better for my yard and it's ecosystem.

I use products with bifenthrin in them with a hose in sprayer.
Spray down everything. Shrubs, trees, grass, walls, etc.
They will be gone for 2-3 weeks.

Are you talking about a mosquito barrier?

I do also. I have a ryobi electostatic sprayer and spray everything around our sitting area. I’m on my second year doing this and it is unbelievable how much better our evenings are. I also have the ryobi fogger and will fog before we have friends and family over. Before I started that regiment I couldn’t in good faith ask people to come over after 4:00. Im sure that I am killing “good” creatures too but cest la vie. I use the 7.9% bifitherin in the sprayer and black and decker juice in the fogger.
