I will be in town for the weekend and want to know if there are any places to buy vegetable plants, especially tomatoes.

Definitely. The only issue with them is they aren’t open on weekends. (Unless that has changed?)

If they’re closed, take the ride up I-49 and go to Lastrapes Garden Center.

The urban naturalist has plants he starts from seeds. Last I heard, he has a drop box style pick up. You grab the plants, and pay in the box. It’s an honor system.

Everything he does is organic, if that matters to you.

I looked him up. Do you just go grab your stuff and then send him money?

Pretty much. He has cameras and has had to call a few people out on Facebook that have taken advantage of this system, but he is easy to deal with

He has instructions posted at his office

He always has a bunch of out of the norm tomatoes. Normally has rabbit manure also. He told me once - stable stomp is great fertilizer, chicken manure is even better, but rabbit crap is where its at.

So, I went by last Friday afternoon. Pretty cool little spot. Lots of vegetables you don't normally see at lowes or Home Depot. The owner seemed like pretty chill dude. This will be my go to spot from here on out.

Same. I’ll definitely have to try to make a trip there soon. Did they have other stuff besides fruits and veggies? Flowers, trees, etc?
