What are you renovating with?

You can definitely do it by hand. It’s just work.

Many people will use a weedeater to initial cut/scalp/remove the bare dirt. You can then use a tiller, shovel, etc to break up the soil and prep for seed or sod.

I’m only doing 900 sq feet of TifTuf, which is 60% of my front yard.

Thanks, the weed eater is a good idea. All this rain recently should help a lot.

The other 40% of lawn doesn’t get full sun so I will plug it properly next spring.

Ready or not it's happening tomorrow! (not ready).
I'll be out there tonight with a shovel and other primitive tools.

Congratulations. I look forward to watching your hard work and not having to do it myself.

Sod turned out half decent looking given my limited ability to prep.
Probably spent 4 hours with hand tools and rolled it out. Now we wait.

Dude, not at all.
Woerner. Quality Sod closed down.
I was shocked at how affordable TifTuf was. Was expecting $300 to 400 per pallet. It was just $205 per.

So $535 all in with delivery fee.
I bet the 419 is even cheaper.

I watered a lot on Saturday not thinking that I would rely on rain, then we got a decent amount of rain.

Under the sod is soaked.
Do I even need to water tomorrow?
I didn’t today.

All sun starting Tuesday, but cool this week.

Can’t hurt to water.

One thing you might consider doing and won’t take too much work but will help tremendously is to sand the seams.

It will also help the ground to hold water if you do.

That’ll be a nice yard. Get ready for some serious mowing once it takes hold. I watered mine daily for a couple weeks until the roots stuck and then just light irrigation after that. You can’t hurt that stuff. It may start to go dormant if it is thirsty or starving but it’ll wake right back up once that’s corrected.

Good to know because parts of some of the rolls looked too far gone.

I'm used to every 2-3 days

I watered for about 45 minutes this morning. No need to water this afternoon?
Sunny and cooler all week.

Am I being a bitch to be worrying about the bad spots?

I’m not so much worried about the cracks. Those will definitely fill in with PGR and fert.

I’m more worried about portions of the rolls that were basically dead upon arrival.

Don't worry about it, it will recover quickly once it gets going.
