Should I keep it for fire wood?

It's a dense wood. If you season it, it should burn well...never tried it though

Going to have to let it dry out. It's not a hardwood, so I don't know that I would cook with it. Fine for a firepit, though.

It takes a long time to dry and usually stinks.

There is so much good wood on the side of the road in Lake Charles, why mess with that?

Eh, personally I wouldn't.
It really takes a long time to dry like mentioned.
I'd have to agree with wicko; if you need firewood you could easily drive around and find better onside the road easy.

I burn them in the outside fire pit or fireplace but not inside.
