Well buddy, you are so right. I mean it's not like St Aug gets large patch, take all patch, chinch bugs, grey leaf spot, if it gets torpedo grass or dallisgrass you're screwed, crabgrass cannot be treated post emergently, it's not drought resistant, it doesn't handle foot traffic well, but yeah....please tell me more about your mow every two weeks and no fert program.

All this is true but st Augustine looks SO good

Without a doubt. St aug is beautiful. Everyone has their favorite and mine in hybrid/improved Bermuda. But every grass can be awesome.

The only thing Ronk left out is that Bermuda can’t take shade, like at all. Got a nice open newly developed suburb with no trees? Bermuda is awesome. Established neighborhood with mature trees? Bermuda turns to dirt.
But yes I think with no trees Bermuda is awesome.
Fwiw I’ve never had issues with St Aug wear from foot traffic at a house. I’m sure it wouldn’t be good for a ball field, but ball fields are open air no trees so it wouldn’t make sense.

Yah. Just bought a house with Bermuda. Front yard is beautiful, a little patchy with a tree near the mailbox.
Backyard is very patchy however because there's more shade with a tree line. Might end up replacing the back yard with a more shade tolerant grass at some point.

Can you cut the tree line back? New house or existing?

Existing.
I will trim the overhang which may help some, but a lot of the tree line is on a drainage easement that's city property, plus it provides a buffer to the next neighborhood that's being built. Would have just been better if previous owner would have a put a shade tolerant grass in the back.

Here’s my 3 week old Geo Zoysia cut at 3/4”. I was cutting at 1/2”, but since the sod was cut so uneven it is still bumpy and I had a few spots get scalped. I’m going to spray some 6-0-0 Feature in the next couple days to get it to darken up. I also need to work on my stripes.

If that is 3 week old geo from sod then it is everything it is promised. No sod lines at all.

You can actually spray a light dose of roundup on Bermuda to keep other grasses from overtaking it. Won’t hurt the Bermuda except maybe turning it for a few days. We tried everything to kill Bermuda grass in sugarcane fields. Won’t kill it.

It is filling in really nice. It makes my Empire Zoysia look like crap lol. I’m a big fan of Bermuda, but I have a good bit of shade and this Geo reminds me a lot of Bermuda. The sod was ordered from Jefferson Feed and was cut at the farm in Alabama on Wednesday and delivered early Thursday morning. It was super healthy and I’m really happy with it.
