That is a huge commitment!

But they are so much fun!
Ruby-throated are pretty intelligent and can become accustomed to our habits. You can develop a sort of relationship with them over time.

Here in Orlando, suburb near downtown, I see one every now and then. I’ve only seen more than one at the same time only on rare occasions and they clearly weren’t happy with each other, lol. They never frequented my feeders though- so I don’t bother with those anymore. They only like my copious supply of flowering shrubs and perennials for their nectar source which is better for them any way. I wish we had more hummers around here but there just isn’t a large population here to begin with and I don’t think we are on a major migration route like y’all are over there by the Mississippi River.

We've had good many in BR around our feeders for the past month. If you sit on my back porch for 10 minutes, you'll see a few most of the time.

Burb of Memphis and we have had a couple coming to our feeder. Just put it out last week when one was looking for it (it’s right by one of our windows).

PSA: Dont forget to burp the feeders after filling to get the air bubble to the top and fill the lower trays.

I filled my 2 feeders for the first time this year. A few hours later I was watching TV outside and a Ruby came to my farthest feeder and went around to every port then flew to my close in feeder not 3 feet from where I was sitting. It went around to each port quickly and I knew something was wrong. Then the Ruby hovered in my face, stared at me for a few seconds, then flew off. Im pretty sure I heard it say "dumbass".

The lil fukkers are starting to get annoying. They've been emptying one feeder faster than the others. When it's empty they perch on my bean trellis and guilt me in to stopping what I'm doing to fill it. They hardly touch the other 3 feeders.
